Course Overview

The Strategic Leadership and Management Training course is designed to equip leaders with the advanced skills and strategic mindset required to navigate today’s complex business environments. This course integrates key leadership theories with practical application, preparing participants to lead in sectors such as healthcare, engineering, and service industries.

Through interactive workshops, real-world case studies, and hands-on tasks, participants will enhance their leadership capabilities in areas such as crisis management, sustainability, digital transformation, and inclusive leadership. This course emphasises the importance of ethical decision-making, resilience, and fostering innovative, inclusive cultures that drive organizational success.

Participants will also engage in personal development activities, assessing their own leadership styles and creating action plans for continuous growth. This comprehensive course is designed to build well-rounded, forward-thinking leaders who can manage organizational change, promote sustainability, and lead diverse teams effectively.

Learning Objectives:

·         Understand Strategic Leadership Theories: Participants will gain a foundational understanding of key strategic leadership theories and their application in various sectors, including healthcare and engineering.

·         Develop Crisis Management Skills: Learners will acquire the ability to lead during crisis situations by applying crisis management theories and fostering innovation and creative problem-solving within their teams.

·         Implement Sustainable Business Models: Participants will explore and apply strategies for achieving sustainability goals, including leading organizational change towards greener and more sustainable operations.

Course Structure

·         Duration: 5 months

·         Module 1: Foundations of Strategic Leadership

·         Module 2: Leadership and Crisis Management

·         Module 3: Innovative Business Models for Sustainability

·         Module 4: Inclusive Leadership

·         Module 5: Knowledge Leadership- Optimisation in Service Sectors

·         Module 6: Digital Transformation Leadership

 

Course Delivery Methods

·         Interactive in-person workshops: ½ day in-person workshop for each module, providing hands on learning through teamwork and discussion. Each workshop will last 3 hours at WLV Business School or Springfield campus.

·         Online learning and case studies: There is 3 hours of online learning per activity with on-the-job application tasks and real-world examples to highlight leadership challenges and solutions.

·         Reflection Exercises: Individual reflection on leadership style and strategic approach as well as team reflections through monthly online group leadership coaching sessions.

·         Guest Speakers (Optional): Industry experts or successful business leaders sharing their experiences and insights.

Assessment and Certification:

·         Participants will apply course concepts to create their own reflective leadership journals.

·         Upon completion of the course, participants will receive a University of Wolverhampton certificate in Strategic Leadership and Management Training.

 

Materials Provided:

·         Course slides, lecture notes via online learning platform.

·         Access to additional reading materials and leadership tools.
